Monte Pelmo, Mondeval, listening to the sounds of nature
Q3, 2021
The Alpine pasture Mondeval in the heart of the Italian Dolomites, is a peaceful meadow. It is tranquilizing quiet, it makes you feel everything is slowing down as soon as Monte Pelmo is mirroring in Lago della Baste or early morning fog is dancing around your tent just before sunrise.
I was still asleep and warm in the down sleeping bag, when the Alpine crows woke me up. They were trying to find an upward current of warm air to gain height. Quickly, I grabbed my camera, got out of the tent, and started counting: one, two, three, sixteen crows, several groups of crows… I realized that I am not alone out here. I am part of the natural habitat of these Alpine crows: they are gathering, communicating, having extensive loud conversations as a group, elaborating where the best thermals are. For them, I am just a passer-by, just another observant.
Suddenly, I shivered, while watching them flying over. It is cold. I grabbed my lightweight down jacket and down gloves. The fog and the clouds covered the north face of Monte Pelmo making it impossible for an early morning sunrise shot. The weather is unpredictable and I have to comply with the whims of mother nature, be satisfied with the chances I got yesterday evening to make a powerful photo composition of this meadow, the stunning view of Monte Pelmo mirroring in Lage della Baste and come back another time for an early morning shot. It was time for the sun to rise and warm me up.
We have added a multi -stitched-image print of the hike towards this beautiful pasture to our moments in mountains collection, with a view to Cinque Torri, since we believe is fits even more to our portfolio than this image of Monte Pelmo.
Of course it is possible to buy this sunset image of Monte Pelmo. Like many other images of our databank that are placed on a stock site.
